Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a cornerstone of our local healthcare services. As a previous volunteer fundraiser for PRHC, I am keenly aware of how every precious dollar of funding can mean a world difference to the people who need emergency or critical care services.
We need our hospitals running efficiently and compassionately, and Federal Healthcare funding transferred to Provincial Ministries of Health must be at levels that will ensure our hospitals can meet the needs of patients.
That’s why I am pleased to let all of you know that Peterborough Region and all Canadians can count on stable and predictable health and social program funding through the Conservative Healthcare Guarantee.
Other political parties will try and misrepresent our position on health care funding, but we are up front, and 100 percent committed to not only maintain healthcare funding levels but ensure that inflation and other cost factors are being accounted for with a minimum 3 percent increase every year.
Quite simply, millions of Canadians rely on a public health care system not only in emergencies but life events like the birth of a child, caring for aging parents, life-saving treatments and even general check-ups.
Canadians also count on education, social assistance, early learning, child-care and other programs supported by the Canada Social Transfer. Once again Canadians need to know they can count on stable and predictable federal funding.
Are we on the right track?
I want to know your healthcare experiences good or bad. We need to protect healthcare services that are working and fix those that are broken.
What we don’t want to see is a Liberal government that is recklessly spending money on pet causes, or, worse, borrowing money to give to other governments like China’s to build pipelines overseas while our energy sector is punished.
Why are we borrowing money and racking up massive debt that will eventually compete with contributions to our Healthcare system and other precious social programs?
As MP for Peterborough-Kawartha, I will bring to Ottawa my proven performance and experience. I will continue to support strong funding for our Healthcare, education and social programs. I will oppose reckless spending and fight increased taxes on the people of Peterborough.
As an entrepreneur, businessman, family man and a local volunteer, I know how to get the job done and I’m looking forward to hearing from you about what will make Peterborough-Kawartha stronger.
That’s why I am running for election on October 21.
Our region deserves more. Our region deserves better.
