To the Citizens of Peterborough-Kawartha,
The last several weeks has been exhilarating.
I would like to congratulate Maryam Monsef and her team for a very well run campaign. In addition to Maryam Monsef, I would like to thank Dave Nickle, Doug Mason and Toban Leckie. It was a true honor to discuss our community and our collective visions. Although we may have disagreed on the method, policy and process from time to time, I was amazed how we mostly agreed on the final vison of prosperity for our region.
Through the many debates, community meetings, events and canvassing, I have been privileged to meet thousands of people and gain a deep understanding of what makes our region great.
I was able to personally go to over 5,000 homes and 260 business and I heard from many of you about what your vision is for a better Peterborough-Kawartha. You shared stories of personal struggle and perseverance. You offered advise, kind words and support.
Our dedicated team of volunteers who helped install signs, make phone calls, stuff envelopes and canvass worked long hours and our donors gave significantly. All because they believed in our collective vision of a better community.
This has been a memorable experience. I will be returning to many of the volunteer boards that I was previously a member of, as well as I am looking for another way to achieve my personal goal of ensuring that we have a vibrant economy in our region in order to ensure a successful future for our next generation.
I promise I will continue to do my part to build a better community. I hope that you will all continue to do the same.
