I am from Peterborough. I was born here, went to school here. I work here, my wife Catia and I are raising our family here…

As I run for election, I am trying to reach out to as many people as possible. Through this blog, I want to let people know who I am and what I stand for. And I want to hear from you!

I have invested my life in Peterborough-Kawartha. Those investments were sound. I have enjoyed personal and business successes, I have a wonderful family, and it’s time to give back to my community in a different way.

We just need to look around and talk to people to know that too many people in Peterborough and the Kawarthas are struggling. While the Trudeau government claims they’ve created thousands of jobs and improved the lives of middleclass Canadians, it is the opposite reality in Peterborough, Apsley, Kawartha Lakes, Trent Hills, Buckhorn, Bridgenorth, Lakefield, Ennismore, Selwyn, Douro, Dummer, Havelock, Norwood, Warsaw and everyone in between.

Our Seniors are worried about their retirement security, our youth are finding fewer prospects of good jobs, and families are struggling to keep up with rising costs, more Liberal taxes and more debt. What are you most worried about?

Over my career, I have learned a great deal about global trade and how we create and keep jobs in Canada and in Peterborough-Kawartha. Just through the Innovation Cluster at Venture North we’ve incubated over 119 companies that have created almost four hundred jobs in just over three years.

I will use this local knowledge and expertise to advocate for our community in Ottawa.

I am also deeply concerned about our environment and I have invested in innovative clean technologies and in companies that are addressing the need for clean water. When we invest in clean tech companies we are investing in the future, we are creating jobs, we are using and exporting the technology that is making positive environmental impact.

I reject the notion that more taxes will solve our environmental issues. We do not need to tax the gas you use to get to work or to the grocery store nor the fuel to heat your home in winter or to keep your lights on. Those taxes don’t help the environment, they just make life harder for those can least afford it. Are we on the right track?

I am also deeply concerned about the scandals and ineptness that is eroding confidence in our government and hurting our ability to be successful in the global marketplace. No government is perfect, but what we’ve seen in Ottawa since 2015 is far beyond a few imperfections.

Under Justin Trudeau we’ve seen our North American Free Trade agreements undermined. The trade disputes with China are getting worse. Our Prime Minister embarrassed himself in India and has undermined our relationships with allies like the United States and even Australia. Are you concerned about so many scandals and failed policies?

As a person who has conducted business around the world, I will work with our Conservative team to restore those relationships respectfully and restore Canada’s dignity on the world stage.

Teamwork is critical to success. I am a team builder. I listen, I make decisions based on good information and consultation, I show leadership and follow through.

You can’t just throw billions of dollars at your problems and hope they’ll go away. Success means working at all levels to find solutions and implement those solutions effectively and fairly. Do you feel the Trudeau government cares more about announcements than it cares about real results?

I support immigration. As someone who is married to a new Canadian, I 100% believe in immigration, but it needs to be without loopholes that put border jumpers ahead of those in much greater need and peril.

And I will be available to the people of Peterborough-Kawartha.  I promise never to forget that I work for you.... and that means meeting face to face with constituents, responding to e-mails, answering phone calls, attending our community events and constantly working to make our communities more prosperous and better places to live, raise our families and enjoy our retirement in safety and comfort.

I am after all, from Peterborough and intend to stay in Peterborough. This is my home, this is where Catia and I are raising our sons, and Peterborough is a place I’d very much like my children and grandchildren to call home too…
